Science Contracts is in the Office of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Science. 

Science Contracts' role is to

  •  help Faculty of Science personnel get their contracts signed
  •  ensure external parties receive an efficient, timely and well-communicated service

Our team

Business Development / Science Contracts / Advancement Dr Beryl Morris Drawing upon a wealth of private sector CEO and Company Director experience from Australia and overseas along with senior executive roles in the public sector, Beryl provides leadership to the Science Contracts team and stewardship across a spectrum of external relationships, commercial activities and business development that relate to the Faculty of Science and its partners. and which advance the vision and strategic priorities of the Faculty of Science.
Research Partnerships Manager Dr Hannah Hartig
With many years of management experience at UQ, Hannah is well positioned to facilitate the interaction between UQ researchers and their external partners, ranging from industry to government departments. She helps identify suitable partners and assists with the management of research contracts and agreements, liaising with all of the relevant areas of UQ on behalf of the academic and advising on industry facing funding schemes that may be utilised to leverage funding. Hannah also advises academics on UQ internal funding schemes.
Research Partnerships Officer Mr Dean Wenke Interacting with appropriate UQ groups and external agencies and applying sound contract management skills gained in industry and government, Dean ensures contract and IP related requests lodged through the Science Contracts are progressed effectively in a timely manner.
Strategic Partnerships Consultant Jill Penridge Jill provides strategic advice to academics for both potential partnerships and ongoing contracts. She supports the Faculty in reviewing contracts submitted through Science Contracts and drafting agreements for the establishment of new partnerships. 

Science Contracts Officer

Cerys Drennan

An alumnus of UQ with a law degree from QUT, Cerys' role is to support Faculty of Science academic and professional staff in research and business contract matters.
IP Intern Dr Alex Bell With a PhD in Materials Chemistry from the University of Bristol in the UK, Alex is a volunteer gaining experience  at UQ in intellectual property and research management.

Internships 

From time to time, Science Contracts offers training opportunities for students undertaking a law degree, a dual law-science degree, or something similar. We proudly acknowledge the support provided by past student interns who undertook a volunteer placement in Science Contracts.
